Video – A380 Arrives at Oshkosh

With a kind of hard crosswind landing, Airbus A380 F-WWDD MSN004 arrived at Oshkosh Air Venture 2009 yesterday. This is the first time that an A380 attends to an North American Air Show.
In addition to flight demonstrations and presentations by Airbus officials and flight crew, self-guided tours of the A380’s interior will be allowed for the first time. Attendees will have the opportunity to walk through the aircraft’s main deck and full-length upper deck.

Video – 787 Dreamliner Test on Runway

Boeing 787 test plane ZA001 (N787BA) recently conducted its first taxi tests at Paine Field. This is the first time the Boeing 787 has moved on a runway under its own power. The test pilots were checking the steering and braking system.
The Rolls Royce Trent 1000 just sounds great! Reminds me of the amazing GE90 🙂

Video – Emergency Landing on Road

Yesterday, an engine failure forced the pilot of a home-built plane to make an emergency landing on a road in Winter Haven (Florida, USA). Cameras inside the plane’s cockpit and another near the engine captured the moments of the landing. Luckily nobody was injured.

Video – FedEx MD-11F Crashed in Tokyo-Narita

Today a FedEx McDonnell Douglas MD-11F (N526FE) – flight 80 – crashed during landing in Tokyo-Narita (NRT) (Japan) killing the 2 pilots on board.

The plane bound from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) (China) to Tokyo-Narita Airport (NRT) (Japan) landed in high winds on runway 16R/34L The airplane bounced on first touchdown, then dropped from 50-100 ft onto the nosewheel, the plane then rapidly banked to the left. The left wing touched the ground and burst into flames. The MD-11 rolled further onto its back and slid off the runway.

The crash was captured by a CCTV airport security camera.

Video – “Flying Car” Takes First Flight

The “roadable aircraft” called “Transition” successfully did its first flight earlier this month. The light plane built by a company called Terrafugia Inc., is designed to change configurations, enabling it to operate as a traditional vehicle on public roads. The plane can carry two people plus luggage and will operate within a range of 100 to 500 miles (800 km), on a single tank of premium unleaded gas.

Videos – Carpatair Saab 2000 Emergency Landing

On Saturday, Feb 28 a Saab 2000 (YR-SBI) bound from Chisinau (Moldova) to Timisoara (Romania) did an emergency landing at Timisoara after an unsafe gear warning indicated a problem with lowering the nose gear.
The plane, belonging to the Romanian company Carpatair, circled Timisoara International Airport for about two hours in order to burn off its fuel and then did a belly landing on a bed of foam laid out by firefighters. Nobody was injured.
